Our friends over at Virginia Speed have quite the build on their hands. As announced on LS1Tech.com in January, Virginia Speed is in the process of converting LS1Tech user LPE 403’s 2001 Camaro SS with only 15,000 miles on it into one beast of a vehicle. Over at Virginia Speed they’re calling it Project Overkill- a title which should shed some light on just how powerful the end result will be.

Plans for the SS include a RHS-based 460 engine with Mast C5R Heads and a Marcella Intake. Components from Callies, JE, and Lunati, along with a few other companies, will be used for the engine internals. UMI front suspension, MWC 9-inch rear end, CTS-V Brakes and Brembo rotors will round out the suspension and brake components. Fikse wheels will be put on the vehicle for a finishing touch.

According to updates given regularly by LPE 403, the build is hoped to be dyno tested within the next few weeks. Shawn from VA Speed shed some light on the build on the forum, stating that he personally won’t be happy unless the build dyno’s at at least 800 horsepower at the flywheel. Although the numbers are on all of our minds, LPE 403 doesn’t seem to be worried about them, stating that he’s not shooting for a specific number but rather anticipating the result of the creative minds of the guys at VA Speed and the performance parts used.
