The American motorcycle has carved an impressive niche for itself, as big and inventive as the domestic car, and it didn’t take long for hot rodders to combine the two, resulting in some suicidal two-wheeled concoctions powered by big V8 engines. These days though, motorcycles can make some impressive numbers from four cylinders, but we’ve never seen one before that was actually half of a V8 engine, put into a motorcycle.
That is exactly what we have here though. Jalopnik reports that this small V4, called the KMV4, is actually half of a Corvette LS7 V8 engine, with all the simplicity of the big V8, and it looks cool too.
The KMV4 is being designed and built by Katech Engine Development out of Detroit, and the 90 degree V4 engine looks just like a slice out of an LS7 V8 engine. It’s awesome, and weighs in at just 130 pounds, comparable to many other motorcycle engines. Plus, it makes 120 ft-lb at 4,850 RPM and max torque of 140 horsepower at 7,800 RPM. The engine has been developed for the Motus-01, a sport tourer bike that grants comfort without sacrificing speed. Plus, it looks pretty badass too.
And of course, you’ve got a baby V8 engine sitting between your legs. This little engine is sure to be popular with hot rodders and kart enthusiasts with a death wish. The Motus MST-01 will be a muscle motorcycle for sure, and if you’ve ever taken apart a V8 engine, the KMV4 shouldn’t be any problem for you.
