Burnouts are a thing of beauty; smoke artfully wafts from the rear tires as the engine crescendos and the revs climb higher, creating a perfect acoustic soundtrack for the seemingly senseless destruction of rubber. A burnout can be accomplished with just about any vehicle, but watching footage of a 2001 SS Camaro going through four gears worth of tire shredding madness is pure unadulterated fun.
It may seem to be useless and pointless to do a burnout that literally engulfs the car and the surrounding area, but when you have an extra set of tires laying around the question simply changes to, “why not?” YouTube has video footage of many burnouts, but this one stands out from the rest thanks to the location and not being part of an official burnout contest. The driver has his SS parked at the end of road that leads to a home located in a rural area (the round bales in field behind the car make it safe to assume this was done on private property); he opens the door and starts the beginning of a burnout to be remembered.
Tires begin to spin and little puffs of smoke give way to increasingly dense voluminous plumes, as the driver goes through not just one or two gears, but four of the six gears. Eventually the car disappears as the smoke cloud grows in size, only to emerge from the cloud in fourth gear leaving behind two black streaks of rubber. The smokes blows off to the side of road, making the view of the home and surrounding trees difficult to see; all that is left to do is to compliment this guy on a job well done.
