Swap Insanity: An R32 Nissan Skyline With A Big, American Secret

Here in America, the R32 Skyline, and all of the other Skyline models we never had the pleasure to drive on our roads, are our forbidden fruit, plain and simple. However, there are some lucky people who’ve gone through the process to get one, being that the 25-year law is now in effect with R32 Skylines of the 1989 model year, but none of the cars that have made their way over here have LS swaps in them, yet, at least.

And we don’t think that there will be a lot of them to be quite honest. Everyone here in the states is so gung-ho about modifying the RB-series engine that comes in the car that anything other than an RB-series engine in these cars is sacrilege. In Australia, Skylines are common though, and there are people there that love the RB-series engines, but there are also some that want to go an alternate route and build something that makes them happy; something that will piss off other Skyline purists and make them ask “Why?!”

That’s exactly what this R32 Skyline owner did – he swapped in a 408 cubic-inch, cast-iron-block, GM LS V8 with a dry sump oil system and slapped a hefty 3.3-liter Whipple supercharger onto it. We also noticed that there are some components in the trunk from Magnafuel. Being that he’s running E85, the upgrade was much-needed. The car also runs off of a GM ECU, and power makes its way to the tires via a T56 gearbox, a twin-plate clutch, and presumably, the stock rearend. How much power, you ask? 670 horsepower to the wheels, to be exact!

Unfortunately, Fullboost’s video was only a minute long, but we definitely want to see more of this crazy Skyline in the very near future. Fullboost claims that this is the car’s first outing since it has been completed, and we’re sure it won’t be its last.
