While many Corvette owners, fans, and enthusiasts view the Corvette as aggressive elegance, high performance, and sustaining a certain level of class in its original form, there is also the group that prefers to customize their Vette with a touch of their own personality.
While personalizing and customization of the Corvette is becoming a more acceptable practice, especially among the younger generations, more unique aftermarket items are becoming available. With that said, the introduction of the shark-tooth front grille kit, from American Car Craft, is probably the most unique item yet to hit the aftermarket.
While many aftermarket accessories can look cheap and even tacky on a ride and plain push the boundaries of ugly, this aftermarket option is actually becoming fairly popular among a small sect of Corvette owners. The shark tooth look has become pretty popular since WWII, when US airmen returned home and began painting this aggressive theme on their trucks. Since that time it has become a common addition to planes, motorcycles, skateboards, and even rollerblades.
For those of you who just might be considering this, the kit is available for the C6 Corvette, C6 Z06, as well as the new Stingray. American Car Craft stresses this kit is not just some snap on or glue on job, and that the teeth are laser cut and made from durable 304 stainless steel and hand finished by skilled craftsmen. American Car Craft also guarantees the teeth will not tarnish or rust over time. With that said, the blood of the Vette’s victims should be of no concern.
The kit which is easily inserted into the Stingray’s grille, fits on top of the stock grille, and comes with a warranty of guarantee. The cost is fairly reasonable at $330, considering the hand crafted precision that goes into creating the kit. According to the manufacturer, installs are very easy and can be completed in minutes without altering the factory grille and without drilling any holes.
While customizing the Corvette up for debate by many, we are opening up the debate and discussion to you. What do you think of this look and would this be something you would consider for your ride?
