Hertz Rent-A-Car is giving you a chance to win a new 2011 Camaro SS with the “Getaway Giveaway“. Only one lucky guy or gal will get the car, but don’t despair if it isn’t you; you can still rent one for a weekend of tire smoking fun since the SS is part of Hertz “Adrenaline Collection”, which also features the Challenger R/T and the Mustang GT 5.0.

The Getaway Giveaway is just one segment of Hertz new marketing campaign called “The Gas and The Brake”, which asks you to find out which term better describes who you are. Are you “The Gas” (aggressive and adventurous) or “The Brake” (conservative and reserved)?

The campaign’s website has a variety of quizzes and Facebook apps to help you find out, and to let your friends know which one they are. Hertz plans to integrate The Gas and The Brake campaign through out the company, with offerings for more “Brake” oriented drivers in the “Green Traveler” and “Prestige” collections.

So we say kudos to Hertz. Since the 1960’s when they started renting out Shelby GT-350’s, Hertz has offered just about anyone with a license a chance to flog some of America’s best muscle cars, all while knowing fully well that anyone who rents one is definitely going to be more on “The Gas” end of the spectrum. Just be sure to buy the extra insurance before you get out there and start catching air like Bo Duke.
