If you’ve never heard of the Vision SZR before, you’re not alone, but according to Vision’s Chief Operating Officer John Misumi the SZR is was designed to be the muscle car for the 21st century. The one-of-one prototype vehicle cost over 2 million dollars to produce, and while mass production is the dream one day, for now it’s still a way away. According to the company’s spec page the “base” engine will be a supercharged 620 horsepower V8 (which the bore and stroke specs make us strongly suspect is an LS3), though one could option up the 700 horsepower V12 if they wish. The manufacturer of the V12 is not listed, so your guess us as good as ours as to who it may be. At one point in the vehicle’s history a big block 502 from GM Performance Parts was an optional engine, but that has been removed from the lineup. The Vision features a full aluminum chassis, a carbon fiber body, and weighs in at just 2,875 pounds.
According to the company’s website, Vision Industries, LLC was formed in 1997 and in 1998 completed a white foam and fiberglass non-operational vehicle code named K/2, which was initially constructed for design evaluation purposes. The “muscular” design theme of the VISION K/2 is intended to connote power and performance in an American “muscle car” designed for the 21st century. The VISION K/2 was exhibited at the 1998 SEMA Show and the Greater Los Angeles International Auto Show.
