In this week’s edition of The Wide World of LSX, we take a look at yet another LSX-powered Holden Ute from our friends down under. From we can gather from the Google Machine, the beastly Ute you see in this video was built by Higgins Race Heads out of Victoria, Australia and is powered by a built 402 cubic inch LSX stroker.
This video from early 2006 shows this relatively mild looking Ute churning out some not so mild times the Off-Street Drags at Calder Park Raceway, in Victoria, Australia. The light weight Ute gives us a few impressive smoke shows in the water box and a few warm up runs before blasting out a 10.19 at 139 miles per hour. What makes this all the more impressive is the fact that the driver, Mr. Nathan Higgins, is doing all the shifting himself, through the factory 6-speed transmission, and the car also still has the factory independent rear suspension.
Things have changed though over the last 5 plus years, and now Higgins has a new Ute drag toy that is laying down even more impressive times. In this video from YouTube, we get a look at Higgins’ naturally aspirated 427 cubic inch LSX Holden Ute that is laying down a string of low 9’s. While the new Higgins drag Ute may not look very subtle, with the big hood scoop and big slicks on the back, we say thumbs up for the steady progression. Now our only question is whether or not they are still using a six speed to run those single digit times…
