Lately, we haven’t see a lot of really cool fourth-generation Camaros. This may be due to a loss of interest in the generation or just a focus on the revamped fifth-gen version of the classic muscle car. Regardless of the reason, a RiceKiller video featuring one highly-modified ‘98 Camaro SS that popped up on YouTube on Tuesday is definitely working to make sure the previous Camaro generation is remembered – remembered to the tune of 970 crank horsepower, that is.

The Camaro in the video is far from a regular fourth-generation Camaro, being powered by a 441 CI LSX engine with a 9.5 to one compression ratio and twin KYTP  TC70mm turbochargers. The engine features JE pistons, a 4.125-inch bore and stroke, a Callies Dragon Slayer crankshaft and a custom-grind Late Model Racecraft camshaft.

The engine isn’t the only thing modified on the SS, however. The car also sports a complete Nasty Performance fuel system, a T56 transmission with steel shift forks and a McLeod Racing twin disc clutch, and a fully modified suspension with QA1 and BMR components.

With the Camaro’s modifications being impressive enough, the dyno pull done with the car at the SNL Performance hosted DFW Charity Racing League Dyno Day is frosting on the cake. With plenty of spectators looking on, the Camaro puts down a crazy 791.4 horsepower to the rear wheels and 670.1 pound-feet of torque.
