We’ve spoken to you at least once before about “bucket lists,” and nowadays it seems just about everyone has one. The automotive weblog site, Autoblog, recently provided us with a video instructing viewers how to drift in a new Camaro in their series, “The List,” with show hosts, Patrick McIntyre and Jessi Combs.
The presenters are joined on the track by our friend, drift champion Conrad Grunewald, and two Camaros; a mostly stock, Bob Bondurant-prepped Camaro SS and Grunewald’s personal purpose-built Hankook drift car. The Hankook Camaro is packing 720HP from it’s modified LS7, and thanks to a large array of weight saving modifications, it tips the scales in just over 2,800 pounds.
Neither Jessi nor Patrick have any formal experience in drifting, so it’ll be up to Conrad to train them up. What most people don’t realize when it comes to drifting, is that it isn’t as easy as it looks and requires more than just being able to get behind the wheel of a powerful, rear wheel drive car, stomping on the gas and jerking the wheel around.
After Conrad spent a few hours with the duo, the hosts went from terrible to OK. Not saying it was due to their lack of talent, but it really is that difficult for most people to grasp the concept in such a short amount of time. With that being said, we have to give props to Jessi, because she showed the most improvement from when she initially started. Check out the video above.
