CTS-Vs have always been heavy cars; even the first generation weighed in at 3,850 pounds.
Via ThatRacingChannel, we get to watch the first full-weight CTS-V break into the 8-second club in the quarter-mile. The car ran a total of three passes and on the third pass, the owner ran the car on blower only. This car couldn’t break into the 8-second range a few weeks ago, but once more tuning was thrown at it, the quarter-mile times gently dipped into the 8’s.
With a fully built engine, a fully ported factory supercharger, and a 150-shot of nitrous, this Cadillac CTS-V is a real sleeper on the streets – besides the drag wheels and tires, we wouldn’t be able to tell this thing runs 8’s at all. One thing we’re really impressed with is how violently the car leaves the line, but in the smoothest manner possible, if that makes any kind of sense.
The first run was the best of them all and that was an 8.97 at 155.6 MPH – talk about a fast grocery-getter! There was a little bit of oil burning on the first run and that was due to a broken oil dip stick. On the car’s second run, it ran an 8.98 at 156.6 mph.
On nitrous, the car seems super consistent and that’s the way it should be. The third run was without nitrous was pretty stout as well. On blower only, the car ran a healthy 9.80 at 142.4 MPH.
