This clip is brought to us by 1320 Video, from the Texas Invitational put on courtesy of the Texas Speed Syndicate. The ZR1’s owner and driver, known as R.C., gives us a little insight into how he pushes out over 1,300 hp from a ZR1 with a surprising amount of factory driveline components. We then see a number of quick clips of the ZR1 in action, along with some great audio.
When you hear R.C. fire up his ZR1, it roars to life, and sounds like a motor more suitable for an offshore race boat then a street car, and we like that. R.C. also goes on to explain that the car makes 1,075 hp on boost alone and 1,385 hp with nitrous!
He said the car originally produced about 1,100 hp with the stock motor, but to enable the use of more nitrous he needed a built motor. While he admits the motor is now built with an RHS block, Mast heads, and an 108 mm throttle body; this ZR1 still maintains a factory: LS9 crank, blower, transmission, and rear-end.
R.C. also told us that the motor is only slightly larger then the stock displacement of 376 ci, now sitting at 388 ci. The motor peak boosts at 21 lbs and holds a steady 17 lbs with its aftermarket bigger water box, as he mentions that IAT(Intake Air Temperature) is the killer for these motors. He then mentions that the car runs on E85 during street use, and C85 when at the track.
Nice build, and we hope you keep pushing up those numbers!
