What was once the most popular sport/performance car in Holden’s lineup, the Torana is still shown mass amounts of love in the Australian aftermarket to this day.
This video by Fullboost shows a Torana built and owned by a man named Luke, but also proves that you can create a completely badass car, get rid of it, get punched right in the feels, then build another one shortly after that is equally insane. Luke’s old Torana had a twin-turbo 408 cubic-inch LS3 that put 750 horsepower to the rear tires. After he sold his first Torana, it didn’t take him long to build another one for street and track duty.
Luke’s new build consists of an LS3 with the factory bottom end, a pair of Higgins CNC ported heads, a hydraulic roller camshaft, Injector Dynamics ID1000 injectors that pump E85 into the cylinders, an Edelbrock throttle body, and to top it off, a Magnuson Heartbeat supercharger pumping 10 PSI. The whole combo is good for a healthy 610 horsepower at the rear wheels and it gets there via a HASTY Autos-built Powerglide transmission with a 3,500 RPM stall Pro converter, 9.5-inch rear differential, and 255-width Mickey Thompson drag radials.
As you can see in the video, the car executes the quarter-mile in 9.5 seconds, nearly lifting the driver’s side front wheel off the ground when launched hard. The car also likes to get sideways, too. We’re sure the spectators at Easter Car Mania 2 had a great time watching Luke and his awesome Torana burning rubber. We really dig Luke’s Holden; it backs up our claim that these cars are timeless. Keep it clean, Luke!
