One of the things we love about LG Motorsports is that proprietor Lou Gigliotti doesn’t just make cars faster for other folks – he’s got some serious chops behind the wheel himself. Previously, we’ve shown you what it’s like to ride along with him as he attacks the 341 Challenge, and now we have the opportunity to see what it’s like to mix it up in the midst of Pirelli World Challenge competition courtesy of Mr. Gigliotti.
Running in the GTS class, which includes cars like the Porsche Cayman S, Acura TSX, Aston Martin Vantage GT4, and the Ford Mustang Boss 302S, Gigliotti piloted his Camaro to the 23rd starting spot in the mixed group of GT and GTS cars at Long Beach. Once the green flag drops, we see Gigliotti get a big holeshot and drive right around the two rows in front of him before the first turn. From there on, it’s bumper-to-bumper combat, with Brandon Davis’ Aston Martin getting a little love tap about 30 second in.
As the video unfolds, you get a real sense of just how tight, technical, and unforgiving the Long Beach street course is – there’s no runoff, and any error is paid for in body damage and bent parts. Eventually, that’s just what happens to Gigliotti, when on lap 26, just four short of the finish, a spin causes his Chevy to back into a tire barrier and suffer damage that rendered it hors de combat.
Take our advice and spend the next ten minutes enjoying some pure road racing pleasure with this video – thanks for the ride, Lou!
