So, today is December 12th, 2012 – or 12/12/12; it’s the last time for 100 years that our calendar will read the same number for the day, month and year. Although today doesn’t really bear any specific apocalyptic significance, 12/12/12 is just over a week away from what some folks think will be the end of the world based on the Mayan calendar. Coincidence? Yeah, pretty sure it is…
We’ve all heard about the ultra-rich nutters going around buying multi-million dollar bunkers filled with years of provisions just in case this really is the end. For them, it’s all about self-preservation. However, supercar manufacturer Mosler Automotive is offering something quite the opposite of self-preservation for the ultra-wealthy/paranoid/doomsday prepper market. Meet the RaptorGTR “Suicide 1212” Edition.
The RaptorGTR comes equipped with a rear mounted twin-turbo LS7 that is making right at 1,212 horsepower – hence the 12/12/12 connection for all you numerologists out there. Mosler reports that the car can hit 60 from a dead stop in just 2.2 seconds, and top out at a blazing 263 miles per hour. The price? A cool $700,000 USD.
Take what meaning you will from the distasteful name, but this is just the next chapter in the odyssey of oddness that is Mosler. In the YouTube description of the video, it says that Mosler is closing its doors and this one-of-one special edition will be the final car ever produced by the company. Guess it might actually be their final chapter…
