For the second year in a row, Late Model Race Craft’s LSX-powered 4th Gen Camaro has claimed the title as the fastest car at the renowned Texas Mile, which held its October gathering just a few days ago. The all black, twin-turbo monster built by LMR, out of Houston, Texas, rocketed to a top speed of 246.4 miles per hour before throwing the chutes. Thanks to this video we found on YouTube, you get to ride along in the LSX rocket ship on its fastest run.
After making two mid 240 mile per hour runs, the third time was a charm to put the LMR Camaro on top with the fastest run of the event. On the car’s fourth run, attempting to set the mark even higher, the Camaro made it to 244 miles an hour before a valve cover gasket reportedly blew, spewing oil onto the hot exhaust manifold, resulting in a ball of fire shooting out from under the car. (This video we found on YouTube shows the whole run). Thanks to the car’s built in fire suppression system, driver Josh Ledford was unharmed by the flames.
Unfazed by the mishap, Ledford took the 4th Gen out again the next day and turned in an impressive run of 244 miles an hour.
