Cadillac is supposed to be GM’s luxury brand, offering superb comfort in a stylish package that subtly lets the world know that you’ve “made it.” But John Hennessy doesn’t see it that way. When he looks at Cadillac’s lineup, he sees horsepower potential. Like, lots and lots and lots of horsepower potential, to the point where he is calling out the Bugatti Veyron.
There’s a reason for this though, and this next video demonstrates where this cocky attitude comes from. Watch as Hennessey Performance’s latest creation, the VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe, heads to an air strip for a top speed run. Caution, the engine sounds from this video may cause hearing loss, brain damage, and/or arousal.
Keep in mind, this is at the lowest possible power setting of ONLY 800 horsepower. See, what Hennessey has done is taken Cadillac’s already-excellent CTS-V Coupe, with its 556 horsepower LSA engine, and they’ve turned it into a monster. Twin turbos replace the supercharger, and the whole engine and suspension undergo an incredible transformation that turns this street bruiser into one of the fastest cars in the world.
But don’t take our word for it; just watch this video, and listen to the raw power as this King of Cadillacs accelerates up and down an air strip. If you want to cut right to the chase, just fast forward to the 1-minute 20 second mark and listen to the VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe shred the air in a beautiful cacophony of torque.
And again – this is only at the 800 horsepower setting. The VR1200 lives up to its name, producing up to an incredible 1,200 horsepower, 50% more than what you see in this video.
Just…damn.
