With the most track capable Corvette ever to roll off the assembly line now hitting the streets, a video of one of the first passes on the 1/4-mile with the new 2015 Corvette Z06 has been captured.  In a pretty impressive display, brought to us by Horsepower Photos, a new owner is captured in video footage, upon commencement of a respectable burnout, hammering out a pass of 11.77 seconds running at a speed of 120.54mph on the 1320.

With some pretty visible wheel spin at launch the driver lost crucial time in the first 60 feet.  However once able to hook he was able to exhibit all 650 hp by the time the ¼-mile mark was hit.  This particular Z06 supported by a manual gearbox was a bit off the reported numbers quoted by Chevy of 11.20 seconds. Taking into consideration the driving skills of a General Motors test driver and the everyday driver the delivery of 11.77 seconds on this particular pass is about what we would expect from the normal straight line track enthusiast.

With America’s most beloved supercar making its way to excitedly awaiting consumers across North America, we are sure in the coming weeks to see more video clips making their way to YouTube and other online sources demonstrating the pure awesomeness of the all-new Corvette Z06 in action.  In a show of agreement in just about a unanimous vote TopSpeed just recently elected the 2015 Z06 as 2014 Performance Car of the Year.

Sporting new features such as the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 engine, a lighter weight frame, electronic limited-differential and new high performance wheels rolling on Michelins equipped with the stopping power of Brembo brakes, the new Z06 is sure to give its higher priced contenders such as the Porsche 911 Carrera competition with the Z06 starting at a price point of $78,995. Offering many if not more attributes than its competitors, at a lower price, the Z06 is by far exceeding the consumer expectations as both a track capable and street vehicle of choice.
