The video narrated by both Tommy Milner – Corvette Racing Driver #4, and Tadge Juechter – Corvette Chief Engineer, utilizes cool cinematography while showing the C7.R at speed on the track at Road Atlanta. With the help of these two, you can really get a feel for the passion and care put into the design and creation of both platforms.
Inside of the TUDOR racing series, Corvette Racing took the second and eighth positions in the the GTLM (GT Le Mans) class as well as a second place tie in the Manufacturer Standings with BMW; only eight points behind the first place tie of SRT and Porsche. Considering the C7.R is a relatively new platform to Corvette Racing, this is a season they can certainly be proud of and a car to be proud of. One that has roots in the 2015 Z06 available to the public in the next couple of months.
There are many aspects of the Z06 that can be found in the C7.R’s development, and vise versa. While many of the parts may not be interchangeable, there is still a lot of intelligence and concepts that have spawned from the cars allowing both to be the best car possible.
If any of us are lucky enough to own one of these new Z06s, or even get the chance to drive one briefly, be sure to think of the heritage and engineering behind the car and feel free to channel your own inner-road racer when you throttle out of that first apex!
