The 2010 SEMA Show may be over (and our coverage still wrapping up), but we will not soon forget all the amazing cars we saw there. GM had a particularly strong showing this year, especially with the Camaro SSX and Corvette Z06X. These concept track car packages straight from GM raised many eyebrows, both for their aggressive looks and track-ready performance options.

This video, just released by Chevrolet, gives us an inside look at the planning and design of the Camaro and Corvette SSX.

Dave Ross, Design Manager of the Chevy Special Build Team, talks about where they got their influences for the SSX cars. It is no secret that GM has a close working relationship with Pratt & Miller, who run the Corvette Racing team and helped develop the Corvette C6.R. The Corvette in particular, which is the lightest production Corvette ever, is an extremely serious track car with the rollcage, front splitter, coil-over struts and many other enhancements. It should be available for purchase in the next few months.

As for the Camaro, they are going to three different levels of packages for the SSX. You can get a looks-only V6, a V8, or an “everything plus the kitchen sink” V8. They also talk about offering Corvette Racing’s “Jake” mascot accessories for Corvette enthusiasts as well. The video is brief, but gives us a little more of an in-depth look behind what went into these cars.
