Video: Chevrolet Gives the Nurburgring Another Stab With the ’15 Z06

A few weeks back we were blessed with a video of a few drive-bys of the 2015 Z06 testing at the Nurburgring. Unfortunately, we later received news that the same car had been involved in a minor incident and testing ceased for the new supercar. Luckily for us, Chevrolet has reappeared in Germany with another Z06 shown here, fighting through The Green Hell.

Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 10.08.55 AMThe new test subject looks to be that of a standard 2015 Z06, not equipped with the Z07 package. That being said, it does look to have an aerodynamics package installed and is being pushed around with the new 8-speed automatic transmission. The Nurburgring is not the smoothest of surfaces, and between the patches and aggressive transitions, you can hear the splitter skimming the ground. While this may cause some folks to cringe at the thought of how that splitter may now look, this proves that it is low enough to do its job and keep the Z06 planted to the track surface.

Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 10.09.37 AMWhile it is unclear whether the GM test driver, Jim Mero, is behind the wheel again, at times you can see a passenger riding shotgun… perhaps they can help push each other to one heck of a ‘ring lap time.

Hopefully Chevrolet is making some headway with the Z06 and gathering the data they need for aerodynamic and suspension tuning. With the 2015 calendar year fast approaching, we really hope that an official Nurburgring time will shortly be released. We believe it will further establish the Z06’s legitimacy when being parked amongst it’s European, exotic rivals; and domestically leave all the ponies and kittens in the dust.
