Once upon a time, there were few weapons as fearsome and devastating as the simple bow and arrow. Sure, the invention of the black powder gun all but made the bow and arrow obsolete overnight, but for thousands of years mankind relied on this simple, powerful device for hunting, defense, and as a way to show off your skill and abilities. These days though, there are more modern ways of showing off, like flogging a 550 horsepower luxury car around a track.
This commercial for the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, called simply “Arrows,” combines this modern automotive masterpiece with that ancient weapon of war in a very compelling commercial. It’s one of the best Cadillac commercials we’ve seen in a long time.
GM is investing a lot of time and money into reinventing Cadillac (again) as a new standard in luxury vehicles. Today’s Caddys aren’t being designed as staid luxury barges like they used to be, though; the CTS, CTS Coupe, and CTS Wagon can all be had with the 556 horsepower LSA V8 engine under the hood. That’s some bold luxury, right?
To help get this point across, the “Arrows” commercial claims that the inspiration for the design of the CTS Coupe was based off of an archer and his bow. We can kinda see that. The commercial, which debuted on January 1st during the Rose Bowl, has made quite an impression. Really though, we like the juxtaposition of an expensive, sporty Cadillac being showered with arrows as it races through the desert. Simple. Elegant. Badass. That’s the Cadillac CTS-V for you.
