You know its Super Bowl time when the OEMs start dishing out the funniest, most rock n’ roll, and most in-your-face commercials of the year. Of course, General Motors is no different, as they’re already priming the pump with this “Al’s Chevrolet” commercial.
As part of their 2011 advertising salvo, GM has purchased five ridiculously expensive advertising spots during next Sunday’s Super Bowl XXXXV, focusing on the Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze, Eco, Silverado HD and the Volt.
Each of these 30-second spots are geared specifically for different audiences, as so are the cars themselves. We really don’t expect to see any ads for the Cruze going on during the halftime show. GM remains pretty tight-lipped about the ads themselves, but did slip this goofy Camaro spot out a wee bit early.
The clip features Al’s Chevrolet, yet another bustling dealership bristling with cheerleaders, mascots and wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men. But wait, there’s more! Bumblebee from this summer’s third installment of Transformers makes a brief cameo as the car lot mascot gives him a quick whack on the nose. Of course, we’re treated to a Michael Bay-esque transformation sequence and a gnarly burnout, so hey, everybody wins!
