File this under “unsolved mysteries” – this dashcam video from 2013 has us scratching our heads, and perhaps you can figure out what’s going on. The video is shot from the perspective of what looks like a cab-over style commercial truck, and takes place on what appears to be an American two-lane freeway.
The star of the show, a 5th gen V6 Camaro, first shows up about a third of the way into the minute-long video, driving along at a reasonable rate of speed in the left lane. A few seconds later, the Camaro changes lanes to the right, and things get weird. Inexplicably, the driver brakes, slowing to a crawl, and a Volkswagen sedan suddenly appears in the right lane, moving far faster than the camera vehicle and headed directly for a collision with the Camaro.
Tire smoke swirls, and the inevitable impact pushes the almost-stationary Camaro forward. The VW is pooched – you can see the folded hood as the camera truck passes by, but inexplicably, Camaro Dude (or Dudette) takes off like he (or she) is late for dinner, and disappears in the distance!
Was it road rage that caused the Camaro driver to do an intentional brake check on the Volkswagen? Does homeboy have warrants out or something, and didn’t want to stick around for the cops to show up? Your guess is as good as ours – feel free to go all Zapruder film on this video and break it down for us in the comments below…
