As a Cadillac Performance nuts, the CTS-V is what keeps us keeping on. The two year lull between the second and third generation of CTS-V is most certainly driving us up a wall. While the third generation was born in late 2013 for the 2014 model year, the new CTS-V isn’t slated to drop until the 2016 model year. Yeah, you could argue that there was the V-sport, but the turbo six cylinder hardly filled the gap left by the thunderous LSA.
As of now, we have some news. Said news could be good or bad, depending on your perspective and performance goals.
If you have an incredibly expensive need for speed, you’ll be happy to find out that some of the first glimpses of the 2016 CTS-V have in fact been in the form of laps around the Nürburgring. Regardless of our position in the space time continuum that is the lag between the new body style and new CTS-V, the upcoming V looks to be trying to take a step up performance wise.
This is good, because it looks to be about the only relevant luxury performance vehicle coming out of America, set aside the 300C, and we as Americans want to do nothing more than put Europe and Asia to shame, right?
The supercharged V8 sounds as exceptional as always, but don’t go forgetting that there’s more to a car than what’s under the hood, Cadillac!
