Several months ago Chevrolet released the performance specs for the all new 2015 Z06 and we wrote a breakdown of what it all means. When properly equipped with the Z07 package and the eight-speed automatic transmission, the Z06 is able to just break into 10-second quarter-mile territory by running a 10.95 at 127 mph. While this is certainly faster then any car the majority of the public will ever drive, there is always room for improvement for those that are a little more speed conscious.
The guys at Fasterproms have successfully pushed one of these new Z06s south of 10 seconds, running a quarter-mile pass at 9.87 seconds at 138 mph. Fasterproms mentioned, ” We are still working out a few bugs and testing the limits of the fuel system. We dropped a couple of miles per hour in 3rd and 4th gear, as she should run about 142-143 mph. Jeremy’s first pass was at 140 mph, shutting down at the 1,100 foot mark.
The car currently has the following modifications:
– Fasterproms custom tune by Jeremy Formato
– Fasterproms custom 2.31 pulley
– Fasterproms Ported Supercharger
– Modified air box, and air duct with modified AFE CAI
– Fasterproms Thermal reduction plates That reduce blower heat soak
– Fasterproms Flex fuel kit- This is a flex fuel sensor that we make to allow us to run on blended e85/pump gas
– Fasterproms 1.5Gal Expansion tank for greater supercharge coolant capacity
– ARH 1.875 headers
– Hoosier 315/30/18 Drag Radials
Corvette Online recently posted a video of Late Model Racecraft’s Z06 running right on the 10-second mark, despite a clutch failure. I guess it’s only a matter of time before somebody pushes their Z06 down into the 8s.
