There really isn’t much new for the CTS-V for 2013, and we’re completely OK with that. In fact, Cadillac can leave the current 556 horsepower CTS-V model alone indefinitely and you’d never once hear a complaint from us. Then again, we wouldn’t mind even more power from the supercharged LS.
However, while we’ve been day-dreaming about what we’d do to a 2nd Gen CTS-V if one fell into our mischievous hands, Cadillac has been busy developing two new sporty hues for the nameplate to help keep things fresh. The two new colors you see here will go by the names “Stealth Blue” and “Silver Frost”.
In a press release on General Motors’ website, Michelle Killen, lead designer for exterior paints said, “Some color hues, such as blues, greys and reds easily identify with performance and velocity. Both Stealth Blue and Silver Frost are very expressive but still true to the luxury and exclusivity that a Cadillac represents, which were driving factors in the creation of the color.”
Stealth Blue is a unique metallic finish that will be available on both the base model CTS and the CTS-V, and is offered in conjunction with a “Twilight Blue” leather interior package to match the paint. Silver Frost, on the other hand, is a matte finish that will only available on 100 CTS-V models. To add to the exclusivity of the color, it will only available through select Cadillac dealers.
The matte finish of Silver Frost is achieved by using clear coat with a 30-gloss factor as opposed to the 80-gloss clear found on most new cars. Like most other matte finishes, Cadillac reports that the Silver Frost will have a more rough texture and will require some special care. Buyers opting for one of the Limited Edition Silver Frost CTS-Vs will also have their option of red or yellow Brembo calipers, and wheels in either a satin graphite color or high-polish bare aluminum.
Look for both of these new CTS-V colors to hit the streets starting this March.
