By now most everyone has probably seen the accident that occurred at Road America this past weekend involving Gunter Schaldach and Joe Foster only five laps into the Grand-Am Race. During the Rolex Sports Car Series 250 Driven by VISITFLORIDA.COM Gunter Schaldach lost his brakes on his Cool TV Camaro entering turn one, one of the fastest corners on the course. Unfortunately for Joe Foster he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Schaldach slammed into the back of Foster’s Mazda and the both went careening into the tire barrier at the entrance of turn one. For those of you who haven’t seen the video yet, the video is below. Fortunately both drivers were ok, Foster said he was “totally fine” but spent sometime in the hospital but has since been released.
When we first saw this video we commented on the photographer who was standing at the very point where the accident happened. It turns out that photographer realized that this might be a defining moment for him and stood his ground with the Camaro barreling at him. He was rewarded for his efforts as he posted on Facebook the incredible pictures.
