An LS9 and a twin turbo LS7 Camaro pushing 800 to 1000 horsepower? Everyone’s favorite supercar builder is back at it again, and Hennessey Performance Engineering’s 2010 Camaro packages are hitting the streets.

Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) introduced their HPE475, HPE550, HPE600, HPE700, HPE800 and HP1000 packages earlier this year, and tripping the clocks at 11.67 seconds @ 121 mph, they claim to have the fastest Camaro out at the moment.

A $59,500 Camaro? That’s the starting price for the HPE550, and it has 562 wheel hp! There is no need to ship your car off to some far away factory and wait months before it returns. Now you can buy your Hennessey package from your local Chevrolet dealership, but keep in mind that they are in limited supply. Only 500 HPE550’s will be available for 2010, and even fewer HPE700’s will be made available – a mere twenty-four, and as of this time, eleven have already been ordered.

The HPE550 is the only package that has been tested on the street. The HPE600 and HPE650 have only seen dynos, and the remainder are in the preliminary stages. According to HPE, the HPE550 is the fastest 2010 Camaro in the world, and everyone is anxious to see exactly what HPE is building in their Texas factory.

The base packages will include Yenko-like racing stripes with “Hennessey/SC” cut out on the quarter panel and two piece racing wheels. The HPE650, however, features the carbon fiber Cam-Aero five-piece body kit that makes the Camaro look slick without being tacky. All are supercharged, but the HPE650 has high flow heads and a specialty camshaft to go with the supercharger. The HPE700 and higher exteriors make them different cars altogether; they are not packages, but custom-built Camaros.

“The HPE700 Camaro allows our customers to combine supercar power and performance with classic American muscle car looks, in a modern, daily-driver usable sports car with a backseat and a trunk,” states John Hennessey, president and CEO of HPE, in a prepared statement. “We will be announcing other Hennessey turnkey vehicle packages for the 2010 Camaro in the near future, along with an extensive list of aftermarket performance parts and accessories.”

There is little information released on the HPE1000; this twin turbo model is assumed to be in short production. Think of a tweaked ZR1 Corvette pushing 1000 horsepower underneath a Camaro body.

The three high-end packages include three-piece lightweight aluminum wheels, suspension and brake upgrades, ZR1 inspired hoods with view windows, a carbon fiber Cam-Aero five-piece body kit, and faux hideaway headlights (a throwback to the 1967-1969 RS hideaway, although these actually have no doors – they only appear to).

Still shrouded in secrecy, the HPE700 has only been seen in pieces and drawings. The same goes for the HPE800 and HPE1000.

All packages are adjustable according to your wallet size, with the option to buy a smaller package and step-up to higher horsepower numbers. All packages include lightweight racing wheels, full decals, and numbered badges. Most packages can be mail ordered, though the HPE700 and higher technically cannot be – you can only order pieces. All packages below the HPE700 come with a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, and all packages HPE700 and above have a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty.

HPE offers everything for the Camaro including exhaust and intakes for V6’s. You can mail order the HPE550 package for the SS for $10,950.

Only the HPE550 and the HPE550 mail order kits have pricing available. The rest are, well… if you had to call to ask, then you probably can’t afford them. But you can mix-and-match parts and services, including individual pieces such as exterior parts. Engraved gas caps, carbon fiber trim and the Yenko type racing stripes can all be ordered, allowing anyone to take a piece of supercar decadence and add it to their own ride.

Hennessey even guarantees that the new racing stripes will add an additional 15hp to the 2010 Camaros – no, not really, because if there was a way to get horsepower out racing stripes, Hennessey would have already found it.
