Product Spotlight: Edelbrock Victor Series Manifolds For BB Chevys

Based in part on the Victor Ram 2-R Tunnel Ram, Edelbrock’s revised design on the 35-year-old classic features some important and useful upgrades. The new Victor Tunnel Ram is available for use with all of GM’s big block motors, from the 396ci to the 502ci. However, this new manifold is best used with 468-582ci, standard-deck V8s with conventional rectangular port cylinder heads.

One of the bigger and more noteworthy improvements about the VTR is the runner length, which was increased to seven inches and gives almost 5.5-square inches at the plenum, making it 25 percent larger than the 2-R base. For this reason, anyone running a high-horsepower street machine or hot rod should consider the VTR a terrific option.

The top for Victor Tunnel Ram base manifolds.

The Victor Tunnel Ram is compatible with three Edelbrock race cylinder heads: the Victor 24° Rectangular Port (p/n 77409), Victor Jr. 24° Rectangular Port (p/n 77459), and standard race heads (p/n 77069), and will work with either carbureted or fuel-injected applications.

As it stands, the VTR top is for use only with 4500 series carbs and the VTR base manifold, but that’s likely to change in the future to allow for more options. However, it comes ready for larger runners with its bigger opening, and can accommodate throttle bore sizes of up to 2.31 inches without any modification.

While the fuel rail kits unfortunately cannot comply with a plug-in style fuel pressure regulator, they do come machined for -8 AN fittings and appear brilliant in their black anodized finish. All in all, the new Victor Tunnel Ram manifold is a great choice for your powerful machine when it comes to flow, thanks to its bigger openings and runners.
