We pretty much all know someone who is dealing with or has had cancer. Bringing awareness to cancer has been a task of love and empathy for decades. A Louisiana family is taking it upon themselves to create a breast cancer tribute car- the car of choice, their ‘72 Camaro. The family has many plans for upgrades and styling on the car and is hoping to show the car at the SEMA show later this year. The family, who is not named, has owned the Camaro since the late ‘70s. With the Camaro sitting rather dormant in a side yard at a family member’s house, the family decided there would be no better way to bring awareness to the cause than to make their car into a tribute for those who are battling breast cancer. From new performance components to the paint job, the Camaro is set to bring attention not only to itself but to the fight against this unsympathetic disease.
While the car is set to be rebuilt for a great cause, the family didn’t want it to be just a nice paint job. The Camaro is going to have about 500hp after all the work is complete. A fully adjustable Air Lift Kit will be put on the car, upgrading the suspension to give it the ability to hug tight corners like a pro autocross vehicle. Victory Racing Engines has built a 408cui LSX engine with a Magnacharger supercharger for the Camaro. To push the power to the wheels, the car will be equipped with a Finish Line 4L80e automatic transmission with a Yank 3,200 stall converter.
For the body of the car, the family has chosen to use an extractor hood and mesh grill, as well as shave the door handles and tint the windows. The car will be painted in Cyber Gray Metallic with Pearl Hot Pink accents. Twenty-inch, forged crossover wheels from USW and Toyo Proxes tires will be used to keep the Camaro planted to the pavement.
No less significant than the exterior of the car are the plans for the upgraded interior. A Roadwire interior will be used, composed of black leather and slate gray components. The seats will be heated, giving passengers the feel of a luxury sedan. An eight-speaker Kicker sound system is being put in the car that includes 10-inch subwoofers and DX amplifiers. Design Engineering Boom Mat has been laid throughout the entire car to maintain optimal sound quality.
