One Lucky Man Purchases $35,000 ’11 Camaro SS For $5.28

[1]

Good news ladies and gentlemen! We have found the luckiest man on the planet. His name is Jonathan Mason and he lives in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Mlive.com [2] reported on June 27th that Mason purchased a brand new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS for an unbelievable $5.38 off of a new penny auction site. Let me say that sentence again, he purchased a brand spanking new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS that retails for $35,255 for $5.38! That’s not 1% of the retail price of the car, infact it’s not even a .1%! Mason paid .015% of the original asking price.

It truly is a story of being in the right spot at the right time. The 2011 Camaro SS was up for auction on the new penny auction site called FastPennyCars.com [3]. Back on June 18th, we reported on the site upcoming auction of this brand new Camaro for next to nothing [4]. “It didn’t click at first,” Mason said. “Then I started yelling and my wife told me to take it outside because she was trying to put the baby down for a nap.” The 2011 Camaro comes with the 6.2L V8 engine, RS package, 6-speed automatic transmission, and rally yellow exterior paint with black stripe package.

Mason apparently drove past the dealership that had agreed to sell the Camaro with the website and stopped in to check it out days before the auction. It was there he saw that it was going up for auction on the site. “I know the dealership is reputable so I went online and bought some bids,” Mason said. Apparently the website works by selling bids to the users. You can purchase the starter pack for $40 that will allow you to have 50 bids. Bids are sold in increments of 50, 100, 200, 400, or 800.

So if we assume he paid for the $40 bid starter pack, the grand total he spent on his new Camaro $45.38. See kids dreams do come true!
