Yesterday Cadillac announced that U.S. dealers will now begin taking orders for the third-generation CTS-V that’s due to hit the streets later this summer.
The Cadillac CTS-V is the second of two V-Series cars that will be cut loose on the streets of North America, next to the ATS-V. A 6.2-liter supercharged V8 belting out 640 horsepower at the crank, third-generation magnetic ride suspension, 8-speed automatic gearbox, and all of the luxury you could ask for; what’s not to love? Well, the price sure is lovable because it starts nearly $20k less than its competitors at $83,995. That’s right. Eighty. Four. Thousand. That’s just a $5k difference from the C7 Zo6, which only has two seats. Talk about a bargain!
Other than the awesome LT4 powerplant, 8-speed auto, and magnetic ride suspension, customers will get huge Brembo brakes, a carbon fiber hood, sporty Recaro seats, 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, and three switchable driver modes for touring, sport, and track settings. in Cadillac’s 112-year history, the third-generation CTS-V is, in fact, the fastest vehicle that the automaker has ever produced. You should be proud, Cadillac.
“V-Series represents the pinnacle of Cadillac, a brand that now makes drivers’ cars at the highest level,” said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president. “The new CTS-V is essentially two cars in one: a luxury sedan with sophisticated road manners and a track-capable sports car with awe-inspiring performance. This type of car is exclusive, the domain of the few who can access this level of incredible capability. V-Series matches or overtakes the finest cars in this elite class, while being more accessible.”
We can’t wait to get our hands on one to test, even if it’s for a few hours. BMW and Mercedes, you better watch your backs; the little kid you used to pick on a few years ago is all grown up…
