Gearstar Introduces New GM 4L60E, 4L65E and 4L70E Performance Transmissions

AKRON, OH – First introduced in 1982 as the 700R4, GM’s 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission hasn’t always been known for its durability. Fortunately, Gearstar’s 30 years of continual development for both improved O.E. durability and aftermarket performance has enabled it to develop a range of 4L60E-based automatics capable of harnessing up to 650 hp. Upgrades include a 28-element sprag, a carbon fiber 2-4 band, high-energy friction discs, a 10-vane pump, a high-capacity 3-4 clutch drum, heavy-duty steel plates, a Transgo shift kit, hardened rings, a revised pressure regulator, new solenoids, a hardened sun gear shell, Torrington bearings, and a Corvette servo.

For ease of installation, Gearstar’s comprehensive transmission packages are ready to drop right in. They come complete with a high-performance torque converter, a new pan, a fluid cooler, a fill tube, and a transmission mount. Rated at 450 hp, pricing for the Level 2 4L60E overdrive starts at $2,295. Level 3 and Level 4 models are available as well, rated at 500- and 650 hp, respectively. For LS-series motors, Gearstar also offers 4L65E and 4L70E automatics that match up perfectly with the revised bellhousing bolt patterns found on these newer blocks. For the ultimate in durability, Gearstar utilizes the same five-pinion planetaries GM integrated into the 4L65E and 4L70E into its own Level 3 and Level 4 packages.

All Gearstar transmissions are backed by a 36-month warranty, and each unit is dyno tested prior to shipping to ensure the highest in quality control. For more information, please contact Gearstar at 330-434-5216 or visit www.gearstar.net [3].
