When the gavel fell on the Military Tribute 5th Gen Camaro during the final hour of Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale event, a generous internet bidder found themselves as the proud new owner of this very special 5th Gen. The winning bid brought in $175,000, and every dollar of the proceeds will be donated to the Achilles Freedom Team, a non-profit organization that helps wounded veterans rise above their injuries through athletics, and gives wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan preparation for one of the most demanding events that any athlete could ever participate in: a marathon.
The Military Tribute Camaro was commissioned by the GM Military Discount program, and the detailed air brush work was performed by award winning artist Mickey Harris. The Camaro’s murals, which were also designed by Harris, depict all 5 branches of the US armed forces. The car went on a nationwide tour of 30 military bases, and even spent some time at the Pentagon before making its way to the auction block at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.
