Leaked Video of SCT iTSX iPad App In Action

[1]

We’re not gonna pretend like we’re big-time automotive industry insiders here at powerTV. We don’t get a lot of test cars to borrow or invitations to travel to fabulous destinations to drive the latest crossover hybrid sustainable lifestyle vehicles. What we do have are friends who occasionally find interesting stuff for us to share. In this case, we got a tip about what appears to be an internal testing video of SCT’s upcoming iTSX wireless tuning system [2], and now we’re going to share it with you.

From the official product page, we can tell you that it will cover 1996-2011 Ford and GM vehicles, and that it will work with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. A Bluetooth dongle connects to the car’s OBDII port and wirelessly communicates with the iPad/Phone/Touch, which serves as the interface for vehicle programming/tune uploads, virtual dyno/dragstrip testing, vehicle diagnostics, and selectable gauges and data monitoring.

The video appears to show a tester taking the app through its paces on a Taurus SHO, and if the production version of the iTSX is as polished and responsive as this early build appears to be, we think it’s going to be huge. We’re hoping to get more footage from our source, so for the time being, let’s just keep this between us, OK?
