Kooks New Easy-Install C5 Corvette Headers

For over 50 years, Kooks has been one of the most recognized names in the header industry. The groundwork for Kooks all started when George Kook built his first set of custom headers way back in 1962. Ever since, Kooks Headers & Exhaust have been on a very short list when looking for aftermarket headers for your ride. With numerous records held and victories claimed in the NHRA, NASCAR, & NMRA to name a few; it’s a safe bet to say they know their stuff when it comes to what they do and build. And their number one secret to being so successful? Listening to the customers’ feedback.

With their new 2-inch LS1 headers for the C5 (1997-2004) Corvette, that’s exactly what they did. People were often times finding themselves dropping their Corvettes off at performance shops to install the older Kooks 1 7/8-inch headers due to the difficulty of installing them. Some of the installation steps of the old headers included having to lift up the motor, take the starter out, and in some cases, even removing the steering shaft. A few people have even reported having to drop the sub-frame. While a professional shop would have a relatively easy time with this type of install, the shade-tree mechanic would find this to be a daunting task.

kooks [3]Kooks listened to the woes of the difficult install process and went back to the drawing board. What came out was a finely-tuned work of art. A full 2-inch primary tube header with such ease of installation that practically anyone can do it in their own garage. Not only does it now take drastically less effort to install, but with full 2-inch piping, horsepower numbers have increased as well.

To get the most power possible out of your C5 Corvette (or LS1 swapped anything), make sure to grab a pair of the new headers from Kooks today! As of writing this article, Kooks does not have the new headers listed on their website yet, but if you call them directly at 1-800-586-KOOK (5665), the friendly staff will be more than happy to have them shipped to your door. One final note: If you happen to attend Corvettes at Carlisle [4] this August, Kooks techs will also be available to do on-site installations of their new headers as well!
