We have to wonder a little bit about the true details of this street race out in the middle of nowhere. First of all, while the headline says “’10 Camaro SS versus a Solstice GXP,” there are quite a few commenters who are adamant that the Camaro in question “cannot be a SS” or is possibly an automatic as it comes with a 30hp deficit over the manual.
As for us at powerTV, we have to exclaim, “Dude, there’s like an 800 pound difference between the two.” And since the automatic-equipped Camaro tips the scales at 3750lbs. over the featherweight GXP at 2948lbs., we have to think the mystery is solved.
But of course, we’re going to have a slew of rabid, frothy-mouthed Camaro fans who will refuse to believe that poor driving combined with the SS’ hulking obese platform could result in getting sawed off at the knees by a turbo four-banger.
Whatever the case may be, we liked seeing this last surviving member of the Pontiac line taking its Chevrolet sibling out to the tool shed one last time. And while we’re not likely to see the resurrection of one of America’s most lauded performance automotive brands, we still have the cars to enjoy.
