Pontiac was once GM’s “excitement brand,” home to famous names like GTO, Firebird, and of course Trans Am. We should have known Pontiac wasn’t long for this world when GM did not introduce a Firebird/Trans Am version alongside the 2010 Camaro. With Pontiac gone, so is any hope of the General bringing back any of these nameplates. But like any good Phoenix, the Trans Am continues to rise up again and again… just not under the Pontiac brand.

Hiede Performance Products, the people who gave us a modern take on the Dodge Charger Daytona, have now released pictures of their new Trans Am Concept on their Facebook page (alongside some scantily clad ladies).

Few things go as well together as sexy ladies and the Trans Am. Smokey and the Bandit really etched this into our national consciousness, and since then the Trans Am has always lent itself to being photographed next to some hot models. This concept car from HPP takes its design cues from the second generation of Firechickens, with its wide, bulging center grille and prominent headlights.

There are also subtle design cues that help this stand out from the crowd of Trans Am clones from the likes of Lingenfelter and the Bandit Trans Am. Rather than go with the popular “Shaker” hood scoop, HPP went with the dual hood-length nostril scoops. These hoods have been a part of the Trans Am for many decades, but were most commonly associated with the final generation WS6 package.

No word on performance options and whatnot, though we doubt the 426 horsepower 6.2 liter V8 engine would remain stock for long if one opted for this radical redesign of the 2010-11 Camaro. So ask yourselves… is this car as hot as those ladies?
