After finishing 29th out of the Top 32 at the streets of Long Beach event back in april, Geoff Stoneback looks to progress in his career as a professional driver.
Not a newbie to the sport by any means, Stoneback got into drifting in 2005, where he purchased his first 240SX, which was a Zenki S14. Since then, he’s competed in the Clubloose series out of Englishtown, New Jersey, Midwest Drift Union, and U.S. Drift. In 2013, Stoneback competed in both Midwest Drift Union and U.S. Drift and won both championships.
This year, Stoneback has a solid LSX-powered Kouki S14 240SX producing 600 horsepower and a great team. Although Stoneback was knocked out by Vaughn Gittin Jr. and finished 30th in the Top 32, he put up a great fight and the car sounded like it was running great.
Road Atlanta is a very technical track, though – a high speed entry in the beginning, full uphill acceleration into the horseshoe, and back to the start – it’s really common for drivers to underestimate the complexity of this track.
We have to give it up for Mark Lenardon, too – this video is really nicely made and is very inspiring. We have no doubt that Stoneback will progress throughout the rest of the season and come out even stronger next season. He did finish in the Great 8 in Miami, so we know he’s got the potential – he just has to fine tune it.
Good luck to Stoneback and his team in Washington at Evergreen Speedway today! Be sure to check out the Formula Drift Livestream to catch qualifying today and the main event tomorrow!
