Where there’s a dream, there’s possibility, and no company has proved that better in the automotive industry lately like Chevrolet. Teamed up with notable children’s toy maker Mattel [3], Chevrolet rolled out a life-sized Hot Wheels Camaro [4] in 2011 at the SEMA Show, but last year, Chevy went above and beyond even that – producing a version [5] for the 2012 SEMA Show [6] that is now available in limited quantities to enthusiasts. This bright blue example of a child’s toy turned reality is now on to even greater tasks, hitting the track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway next month, according to Motor Authority [7], as the official car of the 97th running of the Indy 500.

But in an unexpected move, the two companies just rolled out another great creation just in time for its Indy 500 debut – the Hot Wheels Edition Camaro convertible.

Our friends over at Motor Authority caught a glimpse at the fleet of convertibles, 33 in total, that will be kicking off the Indy 500 next month at last week’s 500 Festival.

Unfortunately, the Hot Wheels Editions won’t be used as pace cars for the actual race on May 26th, but will act as official vehicles of the event, being on display and carrying VIPs around the speedway.

Just like the model seen at the 2012 SEMA Show, the Hot Wheels Edition Camaros sport Kinetic Blue paint schemes, a ground effects package, black 21-inch wheels with special red stripe detail and special Hot Wheels graphics. The convertible version come with a black convertible top and eliminate the use of the ZR1 rear spoiler.

Both the coupe and convertible models of the Hot Wheels Edition Camaros will be available at Chevy dealerships this spring. Now not only does that mean the chance to own a life-size Hot Wheels car, but also the opportunity to possess an official Indy 500 car.
