Hennessey Announces Special 20th Anniversary HPE650 Camaro

[1]The Chevy Camaro just recently celebrated its 45th anniversary since it first debuted, an important milestone (despite a near decade-long absence) for any car. The Camaro isn’t the only thing celebrating an important milestone this year though. October of 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of famed tuning house Hennessey Performance Engineering [2].

To celebrate, HPE has announced the availability of a special-edition HPE650 Chevy Camaro. With over 650 horsepower on tap, just 20 examples of this rare beast will be built.

It will be similar in many ways to the HPE650 Camaro that HPE already offers. Under the hood is a supercharged 6.2 liter V8, and each car starts as a 2012 Camaro 2SS/RS, meaning fully-freakin’-loaded. The front fascia gets an improvement in the form of the CarbonAero nose and sill rockers enhance the view from the side. Wheels will come in two flavors; chrome, or silver. The car itself only comes in black-black.

There are sure to be badges, interior improvements, and other indications that isn’t your standard issue Hennessey Camaro supercar. HPE plans to build just 20 examples of its 20th anniversary Camaro, and as we all know anything that is a limited edition ain’t cheap. But if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it…
