Go Drive It on the Mountain: The 2014 Silverado High Country

Chevrolet, taking a cue from its competition, has recently announced its new luxury option for the 2014 Silverado, dubbed “High Country.” In the same vein as the Sierra Denali, Laramie Longhorn, or F-series King Ranch, the High Country will offer numerous luxury options to target those who want a pickup with loads of style and amenities.

And seeing as Texas is the realm of these rich rustlers, it’s only fitting that the High Country appeal to the rustic, revered look of the cowboy with its lovely red-brown leather seats, while also offering the glistening glimmer that comes from chrome: chrome body moldings, chrome door handles and mirrors, a chrome grille with chrome bars, and chrome 20″ wheels. And it doesn’t hurt to have the “High Country” chrome badges prominently placed on the driver and passenger doors.

It’s definitely meant to appease its owner, says Lloyd Biermann, Chevy marketing manager. The High Country is for buyers who “want to be able to reward themselves just a bit because they’ve made it,” he says.bilde-1

The High Country comes exclusively with a beefy V-8 setup, in either the popular 5.3 or soon-to-be-released 6.2-liter, as well as 2WD or 4WD; it’s obvious the 4WD will be the more-demanded of the two, at least with its target demographic in affluent Texans. The buyer can pick between a 5’8″ or 6’6″ box. The deepest difference between the High Country and its subordinate Z71 is, of course, the interior. The leather is enticing, as are the heated and cooled bucket seats that have a nice touch: the High Country logo embroidered on the headrests. The MyLink infotainment system, OnStar, and alert technology (like lane departure and collision warning) round out the tech package; a must-have for the more app-savvy, urban crowd. The Bose Surround Sound system will be sure to please with its legendary capabilities, coupled with the regular Silverado’s already well-touted insular acoustics.

The price point for the High Country has not yet been announced, but promises to be set above higher-end Sierra models while under the Denali–essentially,  around $45,000.

The 2014 Silverado High Country will fully debut later this month.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting addition to the Silverado family!
