The next few months are incredibly important to the future success (and survival) of General Motors. Next month, the much ballyhooed Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid is slated to go on sale. Then later in November, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the Camaro Convertible will be officially revealed. But what of the Camaro Z28? And what of GM’s “secret” SEMA announcement?

Well according to the video blog Fast Lane Daily, the Camaro Z28 will be introduced at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Is it true? And what about that SEMA announcement?

Unfortunately, our time machine went on the fritz last weekend after we tried to travel back and buy ourselves a ’63 Corvette split-window. It’s stuck in “Forward – 1 second per second” mode so we have no way of knowing if GM really is planning on announcing the Camaro Z28 in January. This summer and fall, however, we have been absolutely inundated with spy shots of the Z28 testing all over the country, and even as far away as the Nurburgring in Germany. So that means a reveal should be coming sometime soon. If you skip ahead to the three-minute mark, Fast Lane starts talking about the Camaro Z28, and around the four-minute mark they declare it will be unveiled in January.

There is something else very special coming up though; the 45^th anniversary of the Camaro. The 1967 Camaro actually debuted in September of 1966, meaning that 2011 is the 45^th anniversary of GM’s venerable pony car. We doubt GM will just let this date come and go without some sort of celebratory model. So we’re laying down our prediction – SEMA will see the announcement of a 45^th anniversary Camaro, while January will bring the Camaro Z28. Sounds good to us.
