Carscoop reports that today, September 24^th, GM will auction off the second production Camaro through the Barrett-Jackson auction.

Why the second production Camaro convertible, and not the first? See, GM has this thing with keeping the first-off production cars for itself. It will likely become part of the GM Heritage Collection, a roundup of General Motors concept cars, one-offs, and firsts. GM will keep the first 5^th generation Camaro for itself.

One bidder with the financial wherewithal, however, will be lucky enough to be the first person to own a Camaro convertible. GM will give the winning bidder the choice of engine, color, and trim. The auction will go through Greg Heinrich of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the winning bidder can take delivery of the car either through a local dealership, or at GM’s heritage center. All the proceeds from the auction will go to YMCA of Southern Nevada.
