The wait is over to find out what GM’s 2015 mid-size trucks will cost you this coming year as the company just announced that both the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon will both start in the low $20K range. Not bad considering all the features and amenities that even the base models of these two trucks have in store.
According to a recent Chevrolet press release, the Chevy Colorado extended-cab will start at $20,995, which includes an $875 dealer freight charge while the GMC Canyon will run a little bit higher at $21,880, including a $925 dealer freight charge, according to GM.
So what exactly do those price tags get you? Well, let’s break it down.
The base Chevy Colorado will come with a standard 200hp 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, rear-view camera, power windows, and a locking tailgate.
As for available options (which of course add to the price), the Colorado can be outfitted with a 305hp 3.6L V6 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, 4G LTE with a built-in WiFi hotspot, a GearOn accessory system, which makes it easy to carry things like bikes or paddle boards, and a Forward Collision Alert with Lane Departure Warning.
The Colorado can also be had in a number of extended-cab and crew-cab configurations, including the extended-cab with a five or 6-foot box, the LT crew-cab and the Z71 crew-cab.
For $21,880, the base GMC Canyon will come with similar equipment as the base Colorado, including a 200hp 2.5L inline-4 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as 16-inch aluminum wheels, a CornerStep rear bumper, 4-way power adjustable driver’s seat, and a signature light-emitting diode or LED lighting. Optional equipment includes a 3.6L V6 engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, GearOn accessory system, and a Bose seven-speaker audio system.
The Canyon can also be had in a variety of trim levels, including the SLE model starting at $27,520, and the 4×4 Canyon SLT model starting at $37,875. Of course, these increased price tags come with their perks, like an EZ-lift and lower tailgate, soft-touch instrument panel, upgraded touch-screen media center with OnStar and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, and aluminum interior trim for the SLE model.
The 4×4 SLT will bring even more features, including a V6 engine, automatic climate control, remote start, automatic locking rear differential, 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels and a leather-trimmed interior.
A variety of cab and bed configurations can also be had with the various GMC Canyon models.
Set to be in dealerships this fall, all 2015 Canyons will come with Pro Grade Protection- a two year or 24,000-mile standard schedule maintenance plan in addition to factory and dealer warranties.
Both the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon should be showing up at dealerships near you in the next couple of months, so be sure to start making room for your new off-road toy in the garage now!
