If you’ve never seen all the videos on YouTube of the absolutely insane Norwegian Formula Offroad machines, do yourself a favor and look them up. Turns out a lot of these beasts are powered by LS engines, including this crazy blue jeep owed by Jimmy Pettersen. In this video from YouTube, we get to watch as Pettersen tries to use his 850 horsepower turbocharged LS engine to push the “Blue Boy” up a steep hill of super-fine dirt somewhere near Matrand, Norway.

The video caption says that this is actually the very first test run that Pettersen has made with his new Turbo LS engine, but that doesn’t stop him from using it exactly how he intends to. You can hear the turbo spooling up hard, as the Jeep starts its ascent up the mountain, and only a few seconds into the climb there is a faint but audible pop. Pettersen keeps pushing the Jeep hard, but it isn’t long before clouds of white smoke start pouring out from under the chassis. The blue-buggy stops dead in its tracks, and is engulfed in its own blown-engine smoke.

Simple fix? Not so much really. The postmortem examination of the engine revealed that Pettersen is now pretty much left with an expensive boat anchor and will have to start from scratch. Looks like it’s time to hit up eBay to get another LS headed to Scandinavia.
