With record heat waves frying over half of the country this week, it might be a good idea to get out of the house and hit the nearest beach or lake. And what better way to cool down than to hit the water on a fast jet boat? However, with the heat so unbearable, you’re going to have to go pretty damn fast to feel that nice cool water breeze. In other words, more horsepower = more cooling.
Luckily, up for sale on Craigslist is this well-documented LSx-powered jet boat that we featured a few weeks ago on lsxmag.
In case you missed our initial feature on this GM-powered jet boat, it belongs to Jeff Jost, who documented the build over at LS1tech.com. The engine is actually a cammed 6.0 liter LQ4 from a pickup truck, which replaced a tired old 454 that eventually blew up. There were plans for a turbocharger, though it now appears that Jeff is ready to sell his baby and move on to bigger and better things. We can appreciate that, and hopefully the new owner will appreciate all the work that Jeff put into this boat.
The listing price is $11,000, and it includes all the usual boating gear like life vests, whistles, flares, and paddles, as well as a Sunbrella boat cover. Also included in the sale is a boat trailer so you can, you know, tow the boat home. Considering all the custom work that went into the 1975 CeeBee Avenger, we think the asking price is more than fair, especially when a new Mercury outboard motor can cost twice as much as this whole boat. It’s a good deal on a great boat, and we hope whoever the new owner is, they enjoy it as much as Jeff seemed to.
