Hennessey Performance Engineering has had a pretty fantastic 2014. From almost-but-not-quite getting the official highest speed record in the world to offering suped-up 2014 Impala SSs, the performance enhancers from Sealy, Texas are doing anything but slowing down.
Here to testify to that fact is one of the latest vehicles to come up for sale directly from the company, a 2014 Z51 3LT that boasts an HPE650 upgrade good for a whopping 662 brake horsepower on the platform. This is a result of extensive modifications to the LT1 motor, including recalibrated tuning, new fluids and hardware, and certainly the 2.3-liter supercharger.
Beyond its tire-shredding capabilities, the Corvette is no slouch in the looks department either. Here, the car glimmers with “Hennessey” stamped elements, spanning the rear bumper to the carbon fiber door sills. Elsewhere, Hennessey upped the car’s form and function with a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, side sills & front lip spoiler, as well as a set of custom H10 wheels.
Here, however, is when sad reality hits. Two big issues stop this car from being the fiberglass fantasy that we’d all have sitting in our garages at the drop of a hat.
The first issue is the mileage, which amounts to 1,028. This may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, and it was probably vital to proving that the supercharger wasn’t in fact going to kill the engine, but still–that’s a lot of miles on this sucker for being relatively “new”.
Problem number two has to be the price, which currently rests at a gargantuan $107,950. That’s GT-R territory and, granted, you’re getting one heck of a car, but this still doesn’t take the bite out of spending that much money.
Find the car by visiting Hennessey’s website, and be sure to find them on Facebook for more photos, videos, announcements, and more.
