It goes without saying that everything is better with LS power. Imports, airplanes, boats, helicopters, campers, and yes, even the Ultimate Driving Machine. So right away, we were on board with the general idea of this eBay auction featuring an LS2-powered 2000 BMW Z3. The seller claims that the conversion to LS motivation was done with a Vorshlag kit – we’ve seen their work on Z3’s before – and that the donor car was a 2006 GTO.
The LS2 is backed by a T56 transmission, and with a cam swap, headers, custom exhaust with high flow cats, and a professional tune, the seller says it does 425 horsepower and 440 pound-feet to the rear wheels. The BMW has been fully prepped for the track, and with a claimed curb weight of 2,700 pounds, it should be quite the carnival ride.
So why is it up for sale? “It’s simple… I built this car because I loved the car and the idea of the best LS2 M coupe Track monster was a dream… once I started I got so into it… reality though is that I have 2 little kids. I love them, I love racing karts and I love the M Coupe. Only time for 2 things…”
With three and a half days left on the auction clock and a Buy It Now price of $45,000, the Z3 sits with no offers on an opening bid of $20k. Is he asking too much money for what’s essentially a track toy? Or is this the bargain of the year for the right buyer? Take a look at the auction page and decide for yourself…
